Is Senior Care Affordable?

We know that the costs of aging are on the rise and affordability is at the forefront of the minds of seniors and their families as they decide what their next steps are. At 1776, we strongly believe that seniors should age in-place at home. They will be happier where they made their family memories. We are here to provide that opportunity and we are available to help anyone understand how they pay for care. Our client care managers are experts in the field of senior care and will guide you through the entire process.

Seniors and their families should discuss their options before making a decision. All of the options can seem overwhelming when you are investigating. We have many resources to help you and if you would like a more hands on experience, you can call us at any time.

Many loved one’s think moving their favorite senior into a facility will be the easiest step because they have a place to live, get prepared meals, and have nursing care. What many families do not realize is that the more skilled the facility, the higher the cost. Additionally, facilities are not based on one-on-one care. Simply because the facility has a nurse on duty does not mean they will visit your senior at a moment’s notice.

Additionally, in some facilities, seniors who need a higher level of care will be required to hire a caregiver in addition to the costs of the facility.

Seniors and families often find that living at home is cheaper, the senior is happier, and quality of care is high.

1776 Senior Care is able to work with a variety of forms of payment.

Private Pay

This is our most common form of payment for 1776 clients. The families/seniors pay the company directly each week for their care. For ease of payment, we offer direct deposit and credit card payment options. This takes the worry of paying a late fee or having to write a weekly check out of the equation. We will email invoices each week for your accounting. Often times seniors have enough savings to pay for our services, and on occasion their family pitches in to help maintain care.

Long-Term Care Insurance (LTC)

Many seniors and their families have planned ahead for retirement and aging by contributing to a LTC policy. We will work with your insurance company to make sure they receive the required materials each billing cycle. We want to make sure the senior and their families are reimbursed for the cost of care as quickly as possible. You will not need to wait for the end of the month with 1776 Senior Care, our weekly billing process allows us to provide the information to your LTC provider with more regularity than our competitors.

Veteran’s Benefits

Veterans and their spouses have access to additional benefits through the VA for in-home care. Veterans and their spouses can apply for Aid and Attendance, which is a pension benefit. Veterans can also apply for an additional benefit through the HHA program. Not all agencies and facilities are able to offer this service. 1776 is an approved partner for this program that allows veterans to receive between 12-15 hours of free care each week. Our care managers can help guide you through either process.

Reverse Mortgage

Those over the age of 62 are eligible to take out a reverse mortgage on properties they already own. Seniors generally must have a high amount of equity to have this option. We suggest talking with a reverse mortgage specialist to investigate this option fully.
