Veteran Care

At 1776 we work to provide quality care for our nation's veterans. This unique group has given so much to our country that we feel focusing on their in-place aging is important. Any veteran that wants to age in place can be sure knowing that 1776 will be there to help them find ways to pay for their care through their VA benefits. Each year more veterans need assistance with the process of aging and there are many ways to help them stay home, happy, and safe.

We are unique compared to many senior care companies because we are a preferred provider with the VA HHA Program. Through this program we can provide up to 12 hours of free care a week for qualifying veterans. Contact us to learn how we can help.

What is different about veteran care?

Our veterans have served our nation in many conflicts across the globe and kept the US and the world safe. Often they come home and humbly melt back into society. At 1776, we know veterans deserve our thanks and care each day. Caring for aging veterans is something we take very seriously and focus on as part of our purpose of bringing joy to seniors and peace to their families. We know that a World War II and Korean War veteran is different than a Vietnam veteran. We take that into account when we assist these veterans. It is the little differences in care that can make a huge impact. Veterans have other conditions that are not prevalent in the general population. As an example, PTSD can be common and knowing the signs and symptoms will help a caregiver understand and provide the best life for that vet.

How can a veteran receive free senior care?

There are many ways a veteran can receive special funding through the VA for senior care. There are two avenues readily available: Aid and Attendance and Home Health Aides. Both are handled by the VA and are benefits many veterans can receive. While they are handled by the same organization, they are drastically different and knowing the differences is important.

What about VA benefits and pension money?

Many veterans are already aware of their pension benefits. Any veteran who is not currently receiving a pension, or is unaware if they are eligible should contact the Department of Veterans Affairs. Be wary of anyone contacting you offering to help you receive a pension benefit! There are many veteran pension scams occurring throughout the US. We have some advice on what to look out for and avoid to make sure veterans stay financially stable and receive all their qualified benefits.

Why does 1776 excel at veteran care?

Nat Truitt founded 1776 because he was thinking about his grandfather who was a World War II veteran who landed at Normandy. He wanted not only quality care for him but for all of his aging family members. We are focused on providing independence for seniors (that’s where the business name comes from—1776 is the year the United States declared its independence). No one wants to feel reliant on someone else, especially our veterans who have given so much to our country.

Our caregivers learn how veterans are often different from their other clients and how to work with them to make sure they are receiving the help and care they need to age safely and happily. Unlike other senior care agencies, we focus on this segment of the aging population to serve them at a high level. This makes our care for veterans distinct and different.
